Valeo Foods has bolstered its position as a leader in the natural sweeteners category through the acquisition of Canadian maple syrup business Appalaches Nature.
Founded in 2018, the Québec based, B Corp certified company is a major supplier of authentic maple syrup across European, Canadian and US markets. Its brands include Sunny Via, Maple Joe and Biodelices.
The deal marks Valeo Foods’ second acquisition in North America within the maple syrup market, having purchased Canada-based Les Industries Bernard & Fils in 2022.
Since its formation in 2010, Valeo Foods, a portfolio company of Bain Capital, has expanded rapidly to create a major international food business that generates annual sales of around €1.2bn. The Ireland based Group’s portfolio includes numerous heritage brand leaders in key growth categories such as snacking (Jacob’s biscuits, Kettle crisps), health & wellness (Rowse honey) and baking & meal ingredients (Batchelors, Roma, Odlums).
